Nokia 3310 4G
After launching a refreshed version of the legendary Nokia 3310 last year in order to invoke nostalgia, HMD Global has now released a new of the 3310 in China which not only supports 4G VoLTE and WiFi but also runs on a forked version of Android. Last year's Nokia 3310 was criticised by many as it ran on Nokia's age old S30+ feature phone platform and supported only 2G networks.
The Nokia 3310 4G has been only launched in China as of now but is expected to make its way to more countries, including India soon. The global variant could be unveiled at the 2018 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona where the Nokia 9 and Nokia 1 are also said to make an appearance.

Apart the fact that it runs on Android and supports WiFi and 4G, the new 3310 is more or less similar to its predecessor. Let's examine the Nokia 3310 4G in detail:-
Screen: The Nokia 3310 has a 2.4-inch QVGA display with a resolution of 320x420 and a polarised layer on top which helps increase readability under direct sunlight.
Camera: The Nokia 3310 4G has a 2MP rear camera. There is no camera on the front.
Software: The biggest highlight of the Nokia 3310 4G is the fact that it runs on a forked version of Android - specifically YunOS, an operating system made by the Alibaba Group that is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). In China, the mobile comes pre-loaded with popular applications for music, books and audiobooks.
Battery: The Nokia 3310 4G has a 1,200mAh battery which offers a talktime of 5 hours on 4G, 8 hours on 3G and 15 hour on 2G. The maximum standby time is 14 days (on 2G).
Storage: The Nokia 3310 has 512MB of internal storage which can be expanded via a microSD card (of up to 64GB).

SPECIAL FEATURES
- In terms of network connectivity, the new Nokia 3310 has taken a big jump as compared to its predecessor. While the old variant was stuck on the terribly slow and dated 2.5G network, the Nokia 3310 4G supports high-speed networks making it a much more modern and capable phone.
- The Nokia 3310 also supports Bluetooth, WiFi and WiFi hotspots making it far more versatile that the old model which lacked any modern connectivity options.
- The biggest mystery as of now is whether the Nokia 3310 4G will run YunOS when it launches outside of China, another version of Android or Nokia's S30+ feature phone operating system which is present on the 2G variant of the 3310. If it runs Android, there is hope that the global variant will have the ability to run stripped down versions of apps like Facebook and WhatsApp.
